Breeding Regulations
Breeding Targets ~ Article 5
Within the scope of the purpose of the
maintenance and enhancement of horse breeding predetermined
by the Law of Animal Breeding with the aim of increasing the
quality and economy of the products, the Canadian Oberlander
Horse Association pursues the following breeding targets
with respect to the horse breed maintained by it and its associated
regional associations:

powerful, well shaped, dry joints, hard hooves |
| Movements: |
long, even walk, energetic trot with long strides,
correct |
| Possibilities of Use: |
work horse for agriculture and forestry, leisure horses,
draft horse, brewery draft horse, draft horse for other
promotion purposes |
| Special Features: |
amiable, even temperament, hard, easy nutrition, serviceable,
powerful draft horse of high endurance |
Inner Properties/Health
Desirable is:
and uncomplicated, amiable, at the same time serviceable,
calm and reliable horse with and attentive, intelligent expression
whose good character as well as even temperament can be recognized
in its appearance and attitude.
Desirable are further:
robust health
good physical and psychological stability
natural fertility and
freedom of hereditary defects
Particularly undesirable are:
nervous, irritable horses difficult to deal with.
