Breeding Certificates - Account of Descent
and Birth Certificate
Article 20
Account of Descent
The issuance of the account of descent is effected when the
following prerequisites are fulfilled:
- Both parents are entered in
the corresponding sections of the studbook (appendix 1)
in the year of coverage or will at least be entered in the
year of the birth of the foal (the breeding year).
- The notice of birth was presented within
31 days after the birth of the foal.
- The identity of the foal accompanying
its mother has been ascertained by the stock supervisor
or his or her ommissioner or proved otherwise.
- As a rule, an account of descent for
a foal originating from insemination is only issued when
an agreement in the form of the master agreement of the
FEI on the participation of the insemination station and
the keeper of the stallion in the breeding program of a
breeding association according to the decree of May 16,
1991 has been established between the insemination station
or the keeper of the stallion and the responsible breeding
association.
Birth Certificate
The issuance of a birth certificate is effected if the conditions
for an account of descent are not satisfied, the following
rerequisites, however, are fulfilled:
- At least one parent is entered in a
corresponding section of the studbook (appendix 1) in the
year of the coverage or will at least be entered in the
year of the birth of the foal (the breeding year).
- The notice of birth was presented
within 31days after the birth.
- The identity of the foal accompanying
the mother has been ascertained by the stock supervisor
or his or her commissioner or proved otherwise.
The breeding account (account of descent
and birth certificate) belong to the horse and remain in the
property of the issuing breeding association; they are to
be handed over to the new owner upon transfer of ownership,
and they are to be returned to the issuing agency upon the
death of the horse. Copies of the breeding accounts can only
be issued upon application when a statutory affirmation in
lieu of an oath bearing a notarially certified signature on
the loss of the original breeding account has been presented.
Copies are to be provided with numbers, and they are to be
clearly labeled as copies.
