Breeding Regulations
Studbook for Stallions ~ Article 12
The studbook is subdivided into the stallion
books I and II.
A stallion may only be used within the scope of the breeding
program if it is licensed.
The details concerning the grant of licenses are regulated
in the licensing regulation.
1. Stallion Book I
Stallions are entered that are no more than three years old
- the mothers of which are at least entered
in the Main Book of Mares
- the sired of which are MF, MMF and
MMMF Stallions which are entered in the stallion book of
a breeding association or may acquire entries therein
- which have received the total grade
of 7.0 at a public event of the Canadian Oberlander Horse
Association, wherein the evaluation may in no partial criterion
fall short of the grade of 6.0 and
- which have satisfied the requirements
laid down for their respective breed at the stallion performance
test according to article 10 of the SBR, appendix 3.
Requirements for the Oberlander
Horse:
Result at the stallion performance test: 6.5 or a total index
of 100 points. If the mother has no entry in the Performance
Book of the Mares, she has to satisfy the requirements of
the Performance Book of the Mares with respect to her pedigree
and with respect to the evaluation of the exterior. The stallion
must have passed an acknowledged performance test with a grade
of at least 6.5 or a total index of 100 points before it can
acquire an entry in the Stallion Book.
- Stallions that have not yet passed
a performance test may be entered under the condition that
a test will be taken part in before the age of 4 years is
reached. (The target group are 3 year old stallions).
- The committee of judges can, under
special conditions, prolong these time limits by no more
than 15 months in individual cases.
- If the fixes deadlines are not kept,
the stallion is considered as not entered.
- Stallions satisfying the requirements
of the Stallion Book I are entered upon application.
- A classification of the entered stallions
in more detailed sections of the association, e.g. attributed
stallions, awarded stallions, elite stallions, is possible.
2. Stallion Book II
All stallions satisfying the minimum requirements according
to the regulations of the breeding association and article
2 of the Law on Animal Breeding but not qualifying for an
entry in the Stallion Book I are entered.
3. Effects on the Entry in the
Stallion Book
A. The entry of the stallions in the
Stallion Book entitles it to be unlimitedly used for breeding
within its breeding population if not other provisions are
made or entered in the Stallion Book.
B. The committee of judges can limit the use of a stallion
entered in one section of the Stallion book to:
- mares of a certain breeding population
- a certain time period
- a certain number of mares
- mares owned by the owner of the stallion
- individual cases to be decided on
by the stock supervisor
C. The limitation is entered
into the Stallion Book and made known to the owner of the
stallion.
D. The decision of the association with respect to the entry
is to be subjected to upon announcement. An action taken
against the decision shall have no suppressive effect.
E. The entry of the stallions is limited
to the calendar year onto the entry. The continuation is
effected upon application of the owner of the stallion.
F. Particularly qualified stallions
are given prominence to by the committee of judges.
G. No claims for damages can be derived
from the decisions of the association or the entry.
